About Smyrna
Smyrna was the original headquarters of the Sewart Air Force Base, which operated from 1941 until 1970. The base played a crucial role in training for WWII and the Vietnam War. The area is now home to the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport.
To get to the airport From Smyrna, take I-24 West toward Nashville, then merge onto I-40 East to reach Nashville International Airport (BNA). The drive is approximately 20-30 minutes.
