Pigeon Forge was named after an iron forge built by Isaac Love around 1820 and the passenger pigeons that used to flock to the area in such large numbers that they darkened the sky.
To get to the airport Take US-441 N to Sevierville, then TN-66 N to I-40 W toward Knoxville/Alcoa Hwy. The trip to McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) typically takes about 50-60 minutes.
