About Oak Ridge
Oak Ridge was established in 1942 as a production site for the Manhattan Project and was so secret it didn’t appear on any public maps until 1949.
To get to the airport from Oak Ridge take TN-162 South (Pellissippi Parkway) to I-140 East, then exit onto US-129 South toward McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS); the drive is about 30 minutes.
